An experimental animation tracing a family tree of automobile ownership highlighting the exchange between the USA and Japan over nearly a century of imported car culture, misunderstood folklore, and industrial manufacturing. The project was spurred by the simple notion of successive mutations—copying but not perfectly. This work uses the post-war relationship between Japan and the United States as a starting point to ponder global exchanges of cultural customs, diy digital aesthetics, and global consumer behaviors.
